I have a Bunion, It is a killer, pse help !!?

The Dr says I can have it sheered off (OOH), but I will be immobile for at least 12 weeks, well,..I am 65 years old, and live alone...I have no family alive... so ..apart from keeping a pkt of frozen peas handy... anybody any ideas ??
