Are cold air intakes ok for daily driving?

I got a 370Z and I've heard so much good things from Stillen parts and I'm looking into the CAI, but heard that it could damage my engine if being driven in the rain. Is this true or is it meant to just stay out of floods? Cuz who wouldn't do that?!! Thanks
