Why has the Democratic party became so anti US?

As a ex democrat I am constanly amazed at how this party has morphed into a quasi-socialist anti American party here is some example, they voted againts Americans identifying themselves in order to vote even thought we have to do this to buy alcohol, cigarettes, get on a plane, now they have just struck down the John Doe law which would protect our citizens from lawsuit if they reported suspicious behavior that turned out to be incorrect.
