Could the mayan calender that is set to end in 2012 be a new solar shift in space.?

We only have 8 planets. There is no 12th planet. The Sun undergoes a pole shift every 22 years for the last 5 billion years - what makes you think this one will be different? While all the solar physicists say it won't?
